In Memory of Ken Hopf

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Ken Hopf, a dedicated and committed member of the Atlantic District Officiating Program for a number of years.  Ken was an official, seminar instructor, mentor and friend to all of us in the Atlantic District and will be greatly missed. Our condolences go out to his family and closest friends at this most difficult time.

Ian Walsh Chosen to Officiate Winter Olympics in Sochi

Congratulations to Ian Walsh who has been chosen to officiate the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.  Ice hockey competition begins on Saturday, February 8.

Update: The IIHF announced additional staff for men's hockey and the entire staff for women's hockey on December 2.

According to Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly, "...Ian Walsh, who was born in Philadelphia, was the only U.S. {referee} picked by the IIHF to work the Sochi Olympics in February."

Pat Hickey reported in the Montréal Gazette, "The other referees selected by the NHL are Mike Leggo, Brad Meier, Tim Peel, Kevin Pollock, Kelly Sutherland and {Dave Jackson}. The NHL has also selected linesmen Derek Amell, Lonnie Cameron, Greg Devorski, Brad Kovachik, Andy McElma and Mark Wheeler. They will be joined in Sochi by seven referees and eight linesmen from Europe."

In Memory of Eleanore Maglio

We're very sorry to report that Eleanore B. Piciulo Maglio, the mother of Atlantic District Officiating Program Seminar Coordinator Marty Maglio, has passed away.
